The Glenlivet occupies a rarefied spot among Scottish distilleries. The establishment opened in 1824, since then it has been one of the most popular single malts in the world. The Glenlivet 12 Year Olds legendary smooth character and tropical fruity notes come from spending quality time in a mix of American oak casks, which have been seasoned with Bourbon, and European oak. Whilst a selection of different oak casks enhances the whiskys flavor, the origins of it lies in the mineral-rich spring water drawn from Josies Well, their unique water source. The color is bright and vibrant gold. On the nose you might pick up summer-like fragrances and tropical fruits. These fruits are also evident on the palate as well as a well-balanced floral smoothness, followed by a creamy finish with nutty hints of marzipan and fresh hazelnuts. Its good enough to drink neat or enjoy it with seared scallops.
