Cazadores Tequila recipe was created by founder Felix Banuelos grandfather, Jose Maria. The stag on the bottle (cazadores means “hunters”) was inspired by Jose Maria Banuelos seeing wild deer running through his agave fields. It is made with 100% Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico Blue Agave with 8-10 years of maturation. All natural removal of cone shaped piece from Agave, discard first press and aged in small individual American oak barrels. It has bright citrus aromas of tangerine and orange blossom lead with dusty Baker’s chocolate in tow, followed by vanilla-caramel, mild hints of baking spice, black pepper and roasted agave. Baked red apple and black pepper flavors greet you as you bring this anejo to your lips, followed by more caramel, dark chocolate, and a hint of bright lemon peel acidity. The finish is oily with round woody notes, delicate fruit and a lingering rich cocoa flavor. Overall, well-balanced between fresh and baked fruit with a richness and bright acidity and just enough spiciness to keep it lively from beginning to end.
